Indoor precision is only half of a premises. The other half is everything that moves outside it — trucks in the yard, badges in the parking lot, vehicles between buildings. That is the GNSS side of AB2U.
What GNSS includes
GNSS — Global Navigation Satellite System — is the umbrella term for all satellite positioning constellations, not just the American one:
- GPS (United States) — the original constellation most people name by default.
- BeiDou / BDS (China) — a full global constellation, often with more satellites overhead in Asia.
- GLONASS (Russia) — improves fix availability at high latitudes and in constrained sky views.
- QZSS (Japan) — a regional overlay that steepens satellite geometry over East Asia, helping in urban canyons.
AB2U’s GNSS-equipped tags use a multi-constellation receiver that hears all of the above. Each site chooses its policy — GPS, BeiDou, or both — with one toggle, and the receiver applies it directly. More constellations mean more satellites in view, faster fixes, and better behavior between tall buildings, under partial canopies, and deep in loading yards.
One identity, indoors and out
The point is not outdoor positioning by itself — phones do that. The point is one tag, one identity, one honest trail: meters-grade satellite fixes outdoors, centimeter-grade fixes indoors, and an automatic handover at your mapped entrances. While the indoor system holds a fresh, precise fix, a vaguer satellite fix is never allowed to overwrite it — so nothing ping-pongs through a wall at the dock door. And any tag that appears indoors without crossing a doorway raises a transition alert.

- Healthcare campuses — wheelchairs, pumps and shuttle carts followed between buildings without re-badging or re-scanning.
- Cold chain & high-value transit — assets that report position honestly at every doorway they cross, with a signed event trail for audits.
- Robotics fleets — outdoor approach legs and indoor missions on one map, with the same three-layer safety envelope everywhere.
